How to Hit Tennis Ball with Right Approach!

You may be wondering will this help in making my game better as compare to now?

Short answer is YES.

We use our tennis racket to hit a tennis ball, right?

People are always in hurry to hit a tennis ball soon they get a racket on the court and this approach is not good for a perfect game. Hence, they don’t get proper control of the ball or didn’t able to transfer the right amount of energy to the ball.

Tennis technique is used widely by professional players it means how one can prepare with proper full backswing and extend to the tennis ball.

Here I will mention some tips to approach ball in right way with right timing.

Why to focus on rolling the tennis ball?

It is always better to set image of rolling tennis ball in your head instead of just focusing on spinning and brushing.

May be confused and seems these are similar words but technically they are different on the court. Different words imply different meaning when it comes to study of semantics.

Correcting your stroke won’t help much if you don’t make proper and perfect imagination in your mind. We need to work on technical words to get proper image in our mind-set.

Compressing and rolling can be learnt from few fun steps.

      a. Roll the tennis ball on the table or bench with your hands. ( some rolls forehand and some backhand)

      b. Roll the tennis ball on the ground with half grip and the racket. ( some rolls forehand and some backhand)

Let’s see how hitting and spinning are not good when reacting to the ball.

      1. Why it’s not good to hit the tennis ball?

Simply if we see a hit implies a swing. For example, a professional baseball player hits a ball with the bat and squash player does the same with his racket. In both cases, the person hits the ball to generate a lot of speed that can be transferable into the ball. It seems the same case when we look player on the tennis court at first glance but it’s not true when we see it technically.

Let take an example if we hit the tennis ball with same force as we do in baseball or squash, the ball will fly a distance of two or three tennis courts, especially if the tennis ball goes with higher trajectory.

Current tennis rackets are too bouncy and can be played by professional players only as it demands lot of accuracy and consistency.

So it shows that force is more important as compare to speed. To elaborate this just thrown an eye on Newton’s second law of force (F = ma).

You can simply see there is no speed in above equation. So we don’t need high speed tennis rackets to perform better on the court.

We need good acceleration.

We can see many professional players like Roger Federer just swing the ball and perform in the court just because they use perfect acceleration in the court.

       2. Why one should not spin the tennis ball?

Brushing up and Spin the ball look better images for approaching the tennis ball in right way but still these are not the best.

Brushing up basically means we project force mostly past the ball and friction created between the string and ball makes the ball rotate forward.

If you have mental setup for brushing up the ball, you would probably go at the wrong   angle as result you may get enough spin but will lacks in speed.
